Access Control

Business security can never be taken too lightly and one of the first points of vulnerability that you can quickly and easily address is access control. Playing a pivotal role in the health and safety of staff and customers alike, access control is becoming an increasingly popular security choice for businesses to have.

But it goes further than simply protecting both your staff and your customers, it is also a great way of enhancing your data protection, as well as segmenting your personnel but creating restricted levels of access.

Access Control Options

Whilst they all ultimately provide the same basic service, there are several different types of access control reader for you to consider, each providing a different level of security, they are:

  • Proximity fob or card access –  a great middle ground solution and becoming increasingly popular because of its versatility. Using a fob or card is a great way of creating a seamless access control system, which can also be tailored to provide unique access levels on an individual basis. The access control system logs all information which can be used to monitor personnel and activity, where appropriate, further enhancing the security offered by this method of access.
  • Biometric access – By far the most complex form of access control. This system is typically used for government buildings and for businesses who handle extremely sensitive information. Furthermore, because of it’s more comprehensive and complex requirements this is also the most expensive option available.
  • Keypad access – The simplest and cheapest form of access control. This can be programmed to give each individual user a unique access code, or alternatively, you can have set codes for each door.

Benefits of having an access control system

  • Enhanced security, with access granted to those with the biometric access, access codes, proximity fobs or cards.
  • Can be linked with intruder systems and CCTV cameras for added security.
  • Can be used to identify who has accessed that area of the building and when.
  • Can be doubled-up as personnel ID.
  • Cost-effective, in the long-term.
  • Can be added to previously installed systems or synced with additional security features such as CCTV Cameras.
  • Simple and effective access control system.
